Install the app
- Download and install the latest version of Maprun on your smartphone. Please visit your mobile device's app store using the following links and install the app from there.

- Open the app and select "User Profile" and fill in your details. This information is used for event administration and results.
- Go to "Select Event" and browse the folders (usually organised by country and region) to find your specific course.
Alternatively, go to "Events Near Me" to see a list of events close to your current physical location (requires data/signal).
Note: To ensure you have access to the event in areas without data/signal, select the event while you are in a Wi-Fi area. The map and course details will be stored on your phone for later use. Data/signal is not required while on the course. - Select "Go to Start" to display the map. If prompted, enter the 4-digit PIN provided by the event organiser. Wait for the GPS status bar at the bottom of the screen to turn green, indicating a good GPS fix.
How to use it
- Now head off to the designated start point marked on the map. Your phone will beep/vibrate when you are at this location, and the timer will begin.
Navigate the course, using your map (phone or paper) to find the control locations. When you reach a control point, your phone will beep/vibrate confirming your visit.
Note: Be careful not to go near the finish location before you have completed the course, as it may prematurely end your session. - When you have completed the course, head back to the finish location marked on the map. The app will then automatically stop the timer and register your finish. You can now select "Show Results" to view your performance, your route, time, and score. Your results will also be automatically uploaded to the MapRun server as soon as data/signal is available, so you can compare how you went with others on the same course. Results will also be available on the website: https://results.maprun.net/
